Reimagining how we serve our community.
"No longer can we let others do
what we can do for ourselves".
Why MABE Exists
For years, walking into a hair shop meant stepping into a space that didn’t really feel like ours. The products may have been designed for our curls, coils, and melanin-rich skin — but the ownership rarely reflected our community. Too often, we’ve been served by people who don’t understand our needs, watched like suspects instead of welcomed as customers, and left to navigate aisles of products without real guidance or respect.
At MABE, we imagine something radically different.
A future where the majority of shops serving the Black community are owned by us, run by us, and centered on us. Where the people who offer advice have actually used the products and can speak from experience. Where shopping for your waves, your beard, your hyperpigmentation, or your 4C coils is a joyful, affirming experience — not a compromise. We're building MABE to help make that vision a reality.
MABE is more than a platform. It’s a shift — to claim our space in the beauty economy in ownership, access, and experience.
Every purchase from MABE supports better products, better service, salons and stylists, and long-overdue representation in a huge industry we’ve helped build from the ground up. It’s time we stopped settling for being the target audience — and started becoming the owners.
